Who was the sender? | Nancy |

Who was the receiver? | Shelby and Ryan |

What was the message? | To try and be more professional in our office |

What channel was used to sendthe message? | Verbally as a group at lunch |

What was the misunderstandingthat occurred? | Shelby and Ryan took it as a personal attack as to how they treat each other rather than Nancy trying to make it towards the whole office. |

How could the misunderstandinghave been avoided? | Better communication and better examples of the actions not liked in the office. |

Who was the sender? | Me |

Who was the receiver? | Front desk |

What was the message? | Specific billing instructions for a government group arriving to the hotel |

What channel was used to sendthe message? | Via email, verbal face to face communication to the desk and on group resumes which is a Word document with full information on every group. |

What was the misunderstandingthat occurred? | They did not understand that they could not charge this group full deposits for a two week stay because the communication said to leave the groups incidentals turned on. This caused huge issues on guest’s credit cards. |

How could the misunderstandinghave been avoided? | The communication could have been easier written out or the desk could have asked for clarification. |

1. I learned that the communication process can be easily broken or damaged by one very small misinterpretation or one word spoke wrongly. Individuals need to spend more time focusing on the sender during the communication process and they would better understand the main point.

2. In the two examples above the misunderstanding came because of not clarifying something that was not understood. I believe that misunderstandings could be eliminated by a lot if people would just ask questions when they are unsure of something that was...
