The Avatar movie is using primary qualitative methodology because the data used in this movie is in a form of words, utterances and dialogues. Whereas focus groups is employed to support qualitative method to potentially allow for fulsome expressions of agreement and disagreement, practical difficulties arise when attempting to extensively probe all individuals to solicit more detailed and nuanced explanations for their own beliefs and opinions. Focus group method includes present facts or current condition concerning the nature of a group or a person, a number of object, or a class. It is appropriate to present this research method since the movie is to reveal the types of connection between human and nature and impacts of mining industry development in the movie script.

For ethical consideration, there are many indigenous peoples (the Na'vi in the movie) whose health and lives are all but destroyed by invading corporations such as Resources Development Administration (RDA) in the movie. The researchers draw a parallel between the problems faced by the Na'vi and the pollution and deforestation, facing people from Alberta to Ecuador, from Kenya to the Philippines and beyond. Fundamentally, the fictional plot hinges on RDA seeking to procure a valuable resource for profit while ignoring and violating the social and cultural needs and desires of those who live where the resource is located and at the same time destroying many of the unique environmental characteristics of their environment for example: business sustainability. It is likely that the producer was well aware that Avatar represents an allegory for the malignancy of corporate greed and certainly has some valuable lessons for corporations. There is several recommendation of how a company might improve its corporate responsibility as it ventures into new areas of the planet.
