Appropriate management of one’s time along with the support of those around is key in achieving one’s goals as well as becoming successful. Kitty Kaplan struggled with time management skills. She was unable to delegate time for her academics efficiently, didn’t take advantage of the support around her within her family, and she didn’t allow time for “herself” or her family (leisure time).

Within Kitty’s schedule she found it hard to allow herself time throughout the day to properly sit down and concentrate on her school work. To achieve an exceptional grade, Kitty requires that she be able to study at least 8-10 hours per week. One way that would contributeto her doing this is to schedule a designated time within her household for study hall. By doing this, it will allow her to sit down in a private area so that she may focus on the tasks at hand. Since she has children, both being old enough to receive homework from their teachers at school, it would be nice to set a good example for them by showing them how to balance their personal time with their school work. This will not only give Kitty her study time to completely be able to focus on her work, but it will also ensure her children are maintaining a higher grade in their classes. Cornerstone lists this as an example of planning and organizing in the household by stating, “Establish a time for study hall in your home. Children do their homework, and you do yours.” (Cornerstone, pg. 69). With this delegated study time, Kitty’s grades are sure to improve tremendously and she will also teach her children a valuable lesson within school.

Another method in which Kitty could improve her study habits would be to make better use of the family members around her. In the description of Kitty, it only stated that her husband worked full time from 8:30-5:00 P.M, however, did not explain much of what he helped with around the house. I would assume her...
