The United States, which is the super power in terms of economy, faces multitude of social problems, including but not limited to crime, homelessness, substance abuse, poverty, health problems such as AIDS, racism and discrimination, and educational inequality (Nunnally, 2012). These problems are sociological in origin presenting Government federal, state, and local with challenges. These social problems also impact citizens of all ages, in varying ways. Racism is one of the most prominent social problems facing American society today.

Discrimination is the act of considering, treating or making a distinction against or in favor of a person by basing one’s decision on that persons social group, religion or class rather than the individuals value to the society (Nunnally, 2012). In America, Caucasians have been dominating in society, with the belief they are superior to other races because of their ethnicity, religion and even skin color. In many instances, the rights of minorities are violated in the employment sectors; where they are customarily offered menial jobs below their intellectual capacity and paid inadequate wages. This interaction between the people is associated to game theory which states that how people interact within a given social environment which results into discrimination. Characteristically, minorities are overworked with little prospect for promotion or commission compared to their Caucasian counterparts. Finally, something like nepotism within Caucasian society could present numerous advantages, for instance, in the processes of obtaining loans, being accepted into elite universities, and eligibility for esteemed scholarships.
