Q: How would you describe the leadership and decision making style of President Kennedy?

During the crisis of Cuban Missile in 1962 , than USA president demonstrated the qualities of a true leader , rowing the nation away from wedge of nuclear war.

Team Selection and management and its Unity

As a demonstrated leader, he had selected best team. He had deliberately included the members who do not think alike him to have various point of views. Team was constituted including relevant people from each implementing department for swift execution. He demonstrated a diligent team management skill and made it sure that team members can consider all options available.

Visionary and set clear targets.

Despite the fact JFK had authorized his team EXCOM to put recommendations, he had however set the clear goals. He had made it sure to consider all the options and consequences of any action taken by US. This strategy led the group to demonstrate their best abilities.

Situation control.

The strategy of declaring discovery of missiles and possible US reaction to USSR, maintained his firm control over situation

Detail Oriented

He had proven himself to be a detail oriented leader, considering minutest details, possible consequences of each option and its repercussions on the future of nation. JFK had maintained that his team must not be insular.

Courage to make decisions aligning national values

On reaching a conclusion, he had shown his courage to take decisions and standby them. He was well aware of the fact that his decision would be deciding the fate of nation. He had vowed the national values for which US had stood by.

He had proven strength of monitoring strengths and weaknesses of opponents and ability to change his mind in light of new evidences brought to table.
