P&G SK-II case
Procter & Gamble (P&G) is a global consumer goods company, created in United States. P&G’s products cover range from pet foods, cleaning agent to the skincare products. P&G Company was formed in 1837 by William Procter and James Gamble, a small candle and soap company. Different with other company, P&G emphasis in innovation,, from products to idea. P&G launched a series of revolutionary products, such as Ivory soap in 1882, Tide laundry detergent in 1946, and Pampers disposable diapers in1961. P&G also co-worked with a great numbers of companies to develop new product categories. The company is famous for consumer packaged products. P&G is considered as one of the most popular in student’s idea company. Also, P&G is awarded by Fortune magazine as one of “global top companies for leaders”.
The number of employees is 138,000 in P&G in 80 countries. The worldwide sales are about 79 billion in a year. As a company which provides 4 billion consumers in 180 countries with various global brands, P&G has excellent performance in market leadership.
But P&G still have strong competitors, including Johnson & Johnson and Unilever. Johnson &Johnson is an global consumer packaged goods company which founded in 1886.J&J also produces medical device, pharmaceutical and cosmetics related products. Unilever is another Anglo-Dutch multinational company which sells similar products with P&G and J&J。Its products include foods, beverages, cleaning agents and personal care products.
SK-II, is one of top P&G beauty brand, launched in 1980 in Japan. SK-II focuses on to provide expensive beauty skincare products to middle age consumers.
