Conflicts have never been my strong suit. I sometimes have a short temper and that hinders my
ability to focus on the conflict at hand. There have been times where I have tried to use things to help
me focus like taking deep breathes or counting to ten and the coming back to the conflict. While I try
not to argue with people there are times where you can not avoid a conflict with people whether it be at
work or in your personal life. Understanding the things to look for and how to either correct your
flaws or see a better way to conclude the conflict can make your life as well as the person or group
you are arguing with. Sometimes people just like to argue because they think they are always right
and at times you can not win with them type of people. As funny as it may sound we don't know it all
and understanding that means we have the ability to learn news things all the time whether you want to
learn something from that person or not.
For many years I have wondered if I turned out like my dad. Well turns out I am pretty much
the same as he is. In some ways but not in others. I grew up wondering why he drank all the time and
did what he did, but he was always there and always had time for us kids. We have a good relationship
now and he has quit drinking. At time we spend a lot of time together and that sometimes leads to
getting frustrated. For example we were fishing in Canada last year with just me and him in the boat.
Nine hour a day for eight days, being 10 feet at the most from each other. Not much room and a lot of
time being with one person.
Using the TRIP goals during this time would have been helpful. Topic would be that we both
want to fish a certain way. At times I like to cast and at other times I like to relax and just troll. On the...
