Reasons for Unsuccessful Information Technology System

As mentioned, due to its goal of having an efficient distribution system, the management of Craven Books has opted to create an IT system. The new system was expected to provide great time, effort and savings for the company. However, the new system did not work the way Craven Books has expected. In this issue, the following can be considered as reasons for an unsuccessful IT system. One of the reasons that can be considered why the company IT system fails is the inability of the management to determine the most appropriate system to be used and the lack of strategic planning before it has been initiated. Because the company wants to be more competitive immediately, they tried to create a system and use it swiftly without even trying to determine if the project really works. The second reason is that the company relied too much on their consultants and suppliers who provide the system, and did not try to review or assess the given system to test its efficiency and effectiveness. Buying in a supplier of a ready-made system, and trying to get an advice to a consultant is not wrong. However, the mistake of the company is they relied too much with these individual that they did not carefully assess their decision. It is said that if you are trying to get an advice from someone, just get the idea but don't rely on it too much. It is the part of the management of Craven to decide cautiously and balance things out to have a better outcome. Another major cause of this failure is that there appeared to be nobody to handle or managed the said project or the lack of having a project team members and leaders to be accountable to all the requirements needed to make the project successful. The suppliers and Cravens blamed each other for the result that it is the sole mistake of the management of the company because they did not again, strategically planned the project.
