Home Depot is a very large business today that in very involved in business to business on-line dealings. And the developments of the internet and technology have certainly helped in this area. The growth of e-commerce has had a radical effect on the business, whether it is dealing with other business, business to business e-commerce or if its business selling to consumers, business to consumer e-commerce. Here are some of those effects in relation to e-commerce.
“Home depot will deal with a lot of online selling which allows the products they sell to be sold directly to consumers or buyers, avoiding traditional retailers, or in other words the store itself, the web sites that sell the products directly from the manufacturer are such as; Homedepot.com or any other e-commerce site. Other sites for companies like Toyota or Wal-Mart are examples of business to consumer e-commerce that allow the customer to specify exactly the product they desire from the convenience of their own home (HomeDepot.com, 2013).”
Comparison-shopping is another one. Through e-commerce, it creates price and product competition between businesses that benefits the consumer. It is very easy to make price and product comparisons online. Sites such as Compare.com will look up the best price and advertised for any product you choose. This comes in very handy when shopping for expensive items such as tools.
Because consumers and business can deal directly with suppliers intermediaries and brokers are potentially affected. This is the so-called intermediations that many Internet reporters talk about. For example; If you can book your airline tickets directly through expedia.com or travelosity.com, then what do you need a travel agent for? One way those intermediaries may rise to this challenge by providing a more personalized service to a smaller, higher value customer base. Using home depot is a great example of...
