The assessment of personal and professional skills first require to define a strategic goal. In fact, a strategic goal need to be put in place to demonstrate to subordinates employees what their plans and vision for the company are. Therefore, such strategic goals should be achievable and should reflect a realistic assessment of the current and projected business environment. In order to answer to the above first question, we need to understand the meaning of “strategic goals”.

Strategic goals is in other words “the planned objectives that an organisation strives to achieve”. (Business Dictionary, 2013).

The most important factor is indeed the self-evaluation of personal skills. In fact, one cannot talk about the assessment of the professional skills required to support the strategic direction of the organisation if he hasn’t pinpointed the things he lacks himself.

As seen far many times, you cannot talk about strategic goals if you can’t lead your people to that point. The key to success in business for a manager is the people he surrounds himself with.

It is foolish to think or hope that an organisation will see profits (succeed) with only one person running it. Being a leader or a manager is not about letting associates and employees getting on with their respective roles; it is about mixing the right individual and nurturing the right state of mind.
