Introduction

Cell phones are an integrate part of almost every consumer’s life. They have changed the way consumers communicate with their families and friends to how they listen to music and watch movies. The impact of cell phones in consumer’s life is astounding. There are now more wireless devices being used in the United States than there are people, and Americans have doubled the amount of Internet data traffic they generate on smartphones, according to the trade group CTIA (Kang, 2011). Some consumer own more than one device which accounts for the strong surge in sales. The popularity of cell phone keep increasing and the competition is stiff. With so many consumers owning cell phones, it was bound to happen that many consumers talk and text while driving.

Analysis

Talking and texting while driving is a phenomenal that is causing catastrophe to consumers from all walks of life. This issues affect the young, the old, the rich and the poor. It includes consumers of all nationalities and creeds. Many consumers do not use a headset while driving which increases the probability of having a collision. Consumers that do not drive hands free are easily distracted and can harm others and themselves. Everyone is at risk when consumers talk while driving. Their action can not only cause health issues or death, but it can negatively affect insurance rates. We found that people are as impaired when they drive and talk on a cell phone as they are when they drive intoxicated at the legal blood-alcohol limit," said Frank Drews, an assistant professor of psychology at the University of Utah, in accidents involving drivers on cell phones. About 10 percent of drivers say they sometimes talk on cell phones while driving, and that figure is growing. (Britt, 2006).
