Abstract

There are various energy sources that are easily renewable, environmentally pleasant and harness natural processes. The renewable sources of energy present an alternative ‘cleaner’ supply of energy, serving to wipe out the effects of particular types of pollution. These sources of energy are referred to as renewable energy because they do not drain other sources to generate new energy (Morgan, 2003). Although there are lots of large-scale renewable source of energy projects and inventions, renewable technologies can also be used in small off-grid purposes, at times in rural and inaccessible areas, places where energy is often vital in human progress. In this research paper I will discuss three renewable energy sources that are highly used in the area I live. They include; wind energy, solar energy and hydropower.

Wind energy

For many years, human beings have utilized wind to grind grain, frequently with tiny windmills or to pump water. Wind power basically entails converting the wind energy to electricity through the use of wind turbines. The wind turbine is made up of 3 propeller-like blades known as a rotor. Each rotor is attached to tower which in most cases is usually tall to a height of 20m high. The main reason behind the height of the tower is that wind is basically stronger a height high from the ground (Jacob, 2010). The wind turbine mainly captures the wind to generate energy. The captured wind facilitates the rotation of the rooter and the more the rooter spins, the more the spin of the blades which...
