People think the Puritans came to North America sometime in the 1630s. In the 1630s colonization was beginning. The Puritans had their own kind of religious practices that they tried to live by. Their beliefs were very godly and this is how their name came to be. Congregationalism is what religious practice was being used, basically meaning that the church and government go hand in hand. Puritans were mostly in the New England area and their numbers continued to rise as time went on. Their main focus was their religious beliefs, which is what made them successful. They helped and looked out for each other because that was the godly thing to do, however people who didn’t believe exactly as they did were asked to leave or convert. Puritans didn’t connect with the Church of England. The Puritans were people, who stand in for the pureness of the bible. They didn’t like other forms of religious practice. Every written word in the bible must be believed, and Puritan’s thought those who follow God's words and prayers will be blessed with eternal life. The conflict between the King, the Church of England, and the Puritans had reached a high point when William Laud became the new Archbishop of Canterbury. He came with new beliefs in the Church, but this was not what the Puritans wanted. This new beliefs were strong on individuals accepting themselves or rejection of God's grace, dealing with a variety of religious beliefs, and accepting higher ranked church symbols, but to the Puritans this not what they believed.

They wanted to get rid of all Catholics control in their religion. That’s the reason why they split from the Church of England in 1633.

The Puritans then knew they needed to find a place in which they could call home. In doing this they began to move into the New England areas in search of the life they needed to be living.
