Introduction
Profane world and the Holy time are never separated to its broader sense, instead both are just being distinguished to its characteristics on how life must experience the Holy. Both act a greater responsibility on how life must be and would be. Both are grounded into man’s experience. To take a look at the characteristics and definitions of the two makes me wonder and asked the question, in my life, when did I encounter the Holy and believe it to be the God as the object of my supreme devotion through my experiences?
Scope and Limitation
The scope and limitation of this reflection paper is that I would be discussing the meaning of the profane world and the Holy time based on what I have understood in the discussion of John Smith’s “The Encounter of the Holy and the Idea of God”. The main discussion of this paper is of the two things which for me are the most significant experiences when I encountered crucial time leading me to appreciate my life, its purpose and direction and my God. These two experiences are mainly the event and making a big discernment. The content of this paper also includes some of my personal experiences or shall I say some of my “Crucial Times” when I had encountered the loving presence of the Holy in relation to the two important experiences which are the event and decision making. Lastly, in relating to the movie “Alive” I would also discuss my own self realization on how I have, during my crucial times happened to me, able to survive and believed that there is really God.
