Right-Sizing

Right-Sizing or Downsizing occurs when a company permanently reduces its workforce. Corporate downsizing is often the result of poor economic conditions and/or the company’s need to cut jobs in order to lower costs or maintain profitability. Corporate right-sizing despite its negative impact on the economy right-sizing is necessary if it’s done correctly, because the main goal of any business is to be profitable.

Bank of America is one the many companies in the banking industry that has been trending with the Right-Sizing term instead of the term downsizing which is lead to believe a less harsh term. However anytime there is a large layoff or right-sizing the community is inquiring was it necessary, or is the organization trying to squeeze more out of less. I believe rightsizing is a better definition for the company's goals for optimum employment characteristics, and is more politically correct if that is the company’s goal.

I have worked at Bank of America for two and half years and was hired due to a government implementation “Customer Relationship Model” an easily accessible and reliable single point of contact for each borrower so that the borrower has access to an employee of the bank to obtain information through the loss mitigation, loan modification and foreclosure processes. Bank of America hired hundreds and transitioned misplaced employees to the role Customer Relationship manager Role so that they may be in regulation with the federal law. In the workforce this is called a mass hire, which gives a boost to the local economy. This role is a new to Bank of America.

After my one year anniversary rumors started to float around stating that the department will soon be having layoffs. The rumor did eventually come true, but was it necessary. As the layoffs happen in other sites these were the misplaced associated who were...
