University of Wisconsin-Madison has always been a part of my life because of my father’s alumnus status. Our family has been huge Badger fans from the beginning. It all started after my 8th grade field trip to the UW-Madison campus. Everything from that field trip made me fall in love with UW-Madison. We experienced the routine of a college science class, a typical walk around campus, and a famous campus ice cream spot to name a few. Passing through the Union and looking over the beautiful Lake Mendota was absolutely breathtaking. Also, I noticed that the campus had a diverse and energetic feel. This uniquely diverse energy felt like home to me.

In addition to this appealing atmosphere, I find the School of Education’s reputation and national ranking exceptional. Furthermore, I hope to participate in and benefit from the Wisconsin Center of Educational Research (WCER). This prestigious research center is an ideal complement in my educational experience, as it brings together two of my strong interests, which are scientific research and education. Coming from a minority background, the WCER’s commitment to exploring the learning needs of low-income families, minority groups, and children with disabilities greatly peaks my interest.

The skill of balancing academics and extracurricular activities has been crucial in my success as a young adult. I plan to use this adept skillset as I continue this fulfilling and robust lifestyle. The vast extracurricular opportunities that UW-Madison offers enable me to live this lifestyle. My life is constantly active, and my academic success proves this is not necessarily a negative existence. While the prospect of supporting Madison’s division one athletics excites me, I also look forward to participating in other athletic opportunities such as the Women’s Volleyball Club and UW Tennis Club. Also, I have been committed to national dance competition for eight consecutive years. Dance has taught me discipline and to work as a team....
