1. Heat Stroke- a condition marked by fever and often by unconsciousness, caused by failure of the body's temperature-regulating mechanism when exposed to excessively high temperatures. First degree burn- a superficial-thickness burn that involves only the epidermis. Electrolytes- any of certain inorganic compounds, mainly sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, chloride, and bicarbonate, that dissociate in biological fluids into ions capable of conducting electrical currents and constituting a major force in controlling fluid balance within the body. Glucose- a simple sugar that is an important energy source in living organisms and is a component of many carbohydrates. Melanin- a dark brown to black pigment occurring in the hair, skin, and iris of the eye in people and animals. It is responsible for tanning of skin exposed to sunlight.

5. Mark would have a greater amount of vitamin D in his body after that day. One of the functions of the skin is synthesizing vitamin D which comes from the sun. Vitamin D is different from other essential vitamins because our own bodies can produce it with sunlight exposure. The main function of vitamin D is to regulate the absorption of calcium and phosphorus in our bones and aid in cell to cell communication throughout the body. Regular exposure of the skin to sunlight promotes enough vitamin D synthesis without the need for supplements.

6. Mark increased his chance of getting burns by taking his shirt and hat. Mark was left with first degree burns on his face and back. A first degree burn is a superficial-thickness burn. It involves only the epidermis which is a sunburn. A first degree burn causes the skin to have redness and swelling.
