INTRODUCTION

The Research Background

The objective of this report is to prepare a discussion paper on the case study of A Smaller Slice of the Pie featuring Allworld Foods. The report will analyze organizational cultural issues and challenges faced by Allworld and also to provide appropriate organizational culture change process to effectively implement Allworld’s corporate culture.

The Report Organization

The report is illustrated in accordance with the unit outline. There is an introduction, followed by the case synopsis and the discussion section, which outlines the key headings that relate to the topic. The report is then concluded and references are included to validate the researchers’ points.

The Sources and Methods of Data Collection

All research material used has been sourced from accredited authors. Data collected for the research was compiled and gathered from various resources such as books, articles and journals. A total of 22 references were used to write this discussion paper.

Limitations of the Report

This report has been consolidated to highlight the key problems and recommendations for Allworld. The researcher limited the report to the areas which were considered high importance.

CASE SYNOPSIS

Allworld Foods, an Australian establishment, was Australia’s premiere grocery chain until their competitor, Smith’s Pty Ltd, was bought over by investment bankers, Mercury Consolidated. Mercury embarked on strategies to outperform Allworld. Allworld, however, was unshaken and confident that their usual strategy of increased advertising and aggressive pricing will continue to retain their existing customers.

Sadly, in less than two years after the invasion of Smith, Allworld’s position was at risk. Allworld’s dividends went down, customers were leaving and employees were upset and demoralized.
