Traditional books vs e-books

There are many differences between books and e-books. Below I will discuss only a small and important part of the differences.

The first difference appears in the price. Books are more expensive than e-books. This is because the price of a book includes the cost of printing and materials needed to put together the book. The price difference between the two types of books tends to be really big.

The second aspect of how books differ from e-books is their availability. Electronic books are still only just entering the Polish market and their popularity is much smaller than traditional printed books.

Another point to make is that books occupy much more space than e-books. One medium-sized memory card can accommodate thousands of books, while their printed versions would occupy several bookshelves, taking up a huge amount of space. It also takes more effort to maintain books versus the care of their electronic versions. For example, e-books do not get dusty and certainly will not be damaged by moths.

An important difference between books and e-books is the ability that the latter can be adjusted when it comes to size or font, whereas an ordinary book does not have this convenient feature.

Another difference is that many people are still traditionalists and since a book is a tangible item that we can physically feel; they are more apt to pick up a book versus an e-book. Many traditionalists are still discouraged by new technological advances, such as virtual books.

Printed books can also be read when there is no electricity, because they do not need to have a charged battery pack to use them, as opposed to e-books that require it.

To point out yet another difference between books and e-books is to focus on the fact that books weigh quite a bit more than e-books and take up more space.
