Integrated Management System

Introduction

The project covers one of the main components of the course, which is taking a case study that implements one of the quality management standards such as a real organization or a made up company.

The project objectives are to improve the students understanding of the standards concept and their benefits, enhance the students’ knowledge on implementing the standards in business, and provide students with evidence showing the affect of using standards in the business procedure.

Our project case study is a real company called star international waste management llc which has several standard certificates such as ISO 14001:2004, OHSAS 18001:2007, and ISO 9001: 2008 which together they present an integrated management system.

Brief about star international waste management llc Company

Star International Waste Management LLC (SIWM) is a joint venture of MBM (ETA Ascon Group) from UAE, Dallah from Saudi Arabia & Urbaser S.A. from Spain. It was established in December 2008.

Star International Waste Management LLC (SIWM) Company was awarded with a 20 years contract for sanitary landfill and BOT construction & demolition Waste Crushing plant by the Center of Waste Management- Abu Dhabi (CWM).

The Center of Waste Management is the lead agency responsible for controlling and coordinating waste management activities throughout the Emirate. This includes implementing the Waste Management Strategy and all aspects of service delivery required to establish a full cycle integrated waste management system.

As part of the contract agreement with Center of Waste Management, the company was required to implement an integrated management system based on ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 within a stipulated time period.

Since SIWM is a joint venture of MBM (ETA Ascon Group), & Urbaser S.A. and ETA has a tremendous experience for the implementation of IMS, therefore, the task was assigned to ETA HSE division.
