Proclamation of 1763 - was at the end of the French and Indian War in 1763. It also granted Britain a lot of land.

Sugar Act- occurred in 1764, put a 3ยข tax on foreign refined sugar and increased taxes on coffee, etc. It also banned some imports. The taxes were raised without the colonists knowing, the one time they wanted an input.

Stamp Act- instituted in 1765, every newspaper, pamphlet, or any type of legal document required a stamp on it or a british seal. The conflict was that the colonist did not want to pay for a stamp, after they've been doing it for free for many other years. The Sons of Liberty formed later because of this act.

Virginia Stamp Act Resolutions- Patrick Henry; was a new member to the House of Burgesses took the role to move against the authority of Parliament. There were 5 resolves.

Stamp Act Congress- meeting on Oct 19, 1765 in NYC consisting of reps from the 13 colonies. They discussed the Stamp Act , which was recently passed without any of their consent. The congress consisted of delegates from 9 of the 13 colonies.

Sons of Liberty- secret organization of colonist formed initially to protest against the Stamp Act.

Townshend Acts- series of laws in 1767 named for Charles Townshend. The laws places new taxes on glasses, lead, paper, tea, etc. The colonial reaction was the same as to the Sugar 7 Stamp Act, but Britain repealed on all taxes except the tea one.

Articles of Association- are the regulations that govern the relationships between the shareholders and directors of the company.

Massachusetts Circular Letter- written by Samuel Adams in response to the Townshend Acts. This letter contributed to the coming of the Amer. Rev.

Boston Massacre- a mob of men and boys taunting a sentry standing guard at a house. Other British soldiers came to the sentry to support, it resulted in shots being fired into the crowd.
