Are gangs worth joining?

By. Mauxi Alarcon

Gangs have existed since the beginning of history and today have become popular worldwide but why do people join gangs? In my opinion I do think that gangs worth joining because they recive a sense of belonging and commitment, they gain recognition and power and they could find love, structure and discipline.

Firstly, members get a sense of belonging and commitment because they are not alone anymore, they have the support from others, and commonly members share the same tastes, activities or opinions. Also members feel the commitment with the gang which means the get more responsible of their acts because it not just affects them personally, it affects the whole gang.

Secondly, they gain recognition and power, us humans we always look for recognition from others therefore being part of a gang gives them that feeling of being part of something or even the feeling of being someone. Also every member of the gang is important and necessary to it therefore they feel powerful and accepted.

Thirdly, they could find love, structure and discipline. Sometimes if the gang becomes very close together the members feel like they are a family and as in all the families there is respect to each other, discipline, and friendship-love. For example, some of the members don’t have a family structure at home so they feel that the love they are missing in their own family is replace with the gang.

In conclusion I think that gangs worth joining together because members get a sense of belonging and commitment, they gain recognition and power and they feel like in family. Being part of a gang doesn’t mean you are a criminal; it is in the members to decide if what they are doing is wrong or correct.
