Never Again

Abstract

In the 21st century Army military leaders are continuing to learn new tactics, techniques, and procedures to keep them knowledgeable in the current battle against terrorist both in Iraq and Afghanistan. As we examined past battles that we fought it appeared that the military leaders did not learn from past history, which led to tremendous loss of equipment and most importantly our Soldiers. Military leaders of the past did not take training and preparation for combat serious, due to constraints that they faced on and off duty and became complacent. Shortages in personnel and equipment led to a undisciplined and not fully mission ready unit. The lack of information pertaining to the mission and the enemy, caused past leaders to make a decision that affected the mind, spirit, and lives of many men. In today’s Army we are considered the most powerful and elite fighting force that there has ever been and there is no room to become complacent. The transformation from cold war tactics to a more speedy, stealthy, and aggressive Army continues to pay off dividends in becoming a combat force ready to eliminate the enemy. The difference is a well disciplined warrior, fighting for freedom with confidence that he will win the good fight every time. The lessons that we have learned from our past battles have made the American Soldier its greatest asset.

The first battles of all the wars we have fought have seen tremendous price and human loss because of our lack of preparedness for that war.
