1. First, briefly describe the leadership situation for me.

At the Restaurant, Porter and Luke’s, there are many tasks to be done, Ricky the manger and part owner is the main boss man. The group of people consist of waiters, cooks, runners, bussers and bartenders, although everyone has different jobs, we run most efficiently when every one is a team player. Ricky is a very successful effective leader. He leads by example and does not think he is above helping anyone out, from greeting a guest to taking out the trash.

2. Trait Theories: Trait theorists aimed to identify specific traits that would make a person more likely to be a successful leader.

Ricky posses knowledge and expertise, he has worked in the restaurant business for several years, has a college degree and owns another bar and grill. His work experience and college studies have given him the expertise he needs to run a successful business.

He also posses tolerance for stress, the restaurant business often times has many stressful decisions and situations that need to be addressed such as demanding customers, whether to be open certain holidays, also to hire and fire when vital to the company.

Most importantly he is confident, being a manger requires you to make decisive decisions and not hesitate in high-stress situations, being able to admit to a mistake and correct the situation while still remaining confident in what you do and not letting the guests walk all over you. He is not afraid to do anything for the restaurant and has great social skills.

3. Behavioral Theories: Behavioral theorists focused more on what leaders do, identifying two broad categories of leader behavior.

Ricky is a mostly a task oriented leader when he leads a t work, the restaurant business is very demanding and results have to be achieved to stay in business. A waiter once lied to a manager on duty and also was rude to a customer, despite the fact he had know her for a...
