Detecting Media Bias

The information that I read about how the CIA is using the Patriot Act to collect data about money transferring was very accurate and to the point of the title. It never went off topic from what the title was about. It went in depth as to even tell us the comments of the companies that the terrorists might be using to do money-transfers. The author did not only have a narrow view on the topic as well. He gave an abundance of information for us to ponder over.

As far as I could tell, the author gave us all of the information that I seen to be necessary in his article. His facts were supported by quotes from either the CIA spokesman or the spokesperson for the companies that were included. His facts that he gave were clear and to the point of the story. It did not seem to ignore any facts. However, it did seem that they were not giving a lot of information about how this is being dealt with or what they are doing to stop the terrorists from being able to use these methods.

The other perspectives that were brought out is how companies like Western Union and MoneyGram are doing what they can to protect themselves from terrorists from using their services to fund themselves. They did not state that they were okay with the CIA digging into their companies to collect this data. There were no assumptions as to the story and just facts were brought out. Also there were no implications to where the author was giving his own suggestions of the matter.

It is important to make distinctions when undertaking a critical evaluation because you need to make sure you are getting both sides of the story or the whole story. Whether it be one sides views to another or just the overall information. You do not want to just believe the first thing that you read or hear. You need to use your critical thinking abilities to make your own assumptions. I would evaluate this store if I were...
