e. Guidelines for Term Project Presentations

Each group will make a short presentation that provides the essential elements of your work. Making an effective presentation is an important skill for MBAs. Here is my view of the perfect presentation:

1) Presentation material has been set-up on PC in advance and the presenter is familiar with the tools provided in PowerPoint.

2) Presenter is very familiar and comfortable with the content of the presentation.

3) Presenter is energized and sounds enthusiastic – not droning.

4) The slides contain short cues for the speaker – not full sentences.

5) The presentation is useful, focused and delivers new insights for the audience.

6) The presenter maintains eye contact with the audience, glancing briefly at the slides but not reading from them.

7) Humor is used to lighten the mood occasionally.

8) Slides contain graphical exhibits where appropriate.

9) Team is smartly dressed (business casual)

10) Presenter is focused on communicating facts or concepts in a crisp style without undue repetition.

11) Presentation ends in 10 minutes with a few minutes available for questions and answers.

Suggestions:

1) Rehearse the presentation a couple of times in front of an audience before class.

2) All team members do not have to speak. Choose two or three good presenters. But the entire group should be available to answer questions.

3) Time your presentation – make sure it fits within the allotted time of 10 minutes.

4) The presentation will be evaluated based on the quality of content, the delivery of the presentation, and the value it brings to fellow students in the audience.
