I. Introduction

Morality, as defined by Wikipedia.org, is the differentiation of intentions, decisions, and actions between those that are "good" (or right) and those that are "bad" (or wrong). Sometimes, prostitution isn’t just any choice; it’s the only choice they have. Interpreting prostitution from a morality position misses the whole point. The selling and the use of the women’s bodies have been established into businesses: pornography, sex tourism, sex trafficking, sex trade and the like. As a result, establishments servicing prostitution benefit from it: hotels, motels, cafes and restaurants, transportation and many more.

Prostitution is the business or practice of providing sexual services to another person in return for payment. It is when a person sells his or her body to satisfy the sexual desires of their customer or client. The person who receives payment for sexual services is called a prostitute. Prostitution is not only a form of sex trafficking, sex violence but a form of slavery as well. In prostitution, women are going into forced sex and sometimes, unprotected sex. Prostitution allows men to become superior over women and women lose their dignity and self-worth in the process.

Prostitution began hundreds, or even thousands of years ago. It has been said to be the oldest profession. One of the earliest forms of prostitution practiced was the sacred prostitution, which was supposedly practiced among the Sumerians. Biblical records also prove that prostitution was prevalent, specifically in ancient Israel. In Greece, prostitution was practiced by both men and women. In ancient Rome, prostitution was legal and public that even the higher classes of society were freely practising it. In Asia, Japan had the earliest records of having engaged in prostitution and the sex industry, dated back in the early 17th century.
