|Main Problem and Reasons for the Problem|Project Aerial was initiated after increase in customer demand for a GPS with satellite imagery in |
| |competition with a similar GPS prototype from the rival company. While TerraCog had an outstanding |
| |history in competing products, this project Aerial presented the problem of disagreement on the |
| |production cost between two departments of the company. Design & Development department proposed high|
| |production cost for redesign of the existing GPS platform while the Sales department required low |
| |cost. |
| |The above problem was created due to TerraCog having unstable executive team that lacks true |
| |leadership, effective communication and a consistent vision. There existed intergroup conflicts and |
| |preference of individual goals over organizational goals. A hurry to enter the market after a |
| |significant lag without clarity on price and positioning indicated shortsightedness on everyone’s |
| |part from the President of the company to the managers of the departments. |
