2. To carry out a survey on online shopping a variety of steps should take place beforehand. First and foremost, the person that will be carrying out the survey should understand what data he wants to collect from the respondents. Therefore, the first thing that he must do is know his objectives well. Secondly, he must analyse the questions and make sure that they are short, simple and unambiguous. The questions should not be set out in a way that only direct to one answer. The first question in this survey must be persuasive to keep the respondent willing to answer the further questions. The questions should be focused all on online shopping and the experience that one receives from it. The survey should not focus on personal information of the respondent since if the questions get too personal, they would simply stop responding.

It is advisable that before publishing the finished version of the survey, a sample survey would be made beforehand. This will help the person carrying out the survey see whether the questions are understandable and useful. Additions and changes to errors of the survey must take place based on the sample answers of the respondents. Since the survey is about online shopping, it is ideal that the person publishes a draft of the survey online since the target marketers are people who are making use of the Internet constantly and thus are more likely to use the online shopping marketing method.
