China and Japan

China and Japan have a very turbulent history. When trying to globalize it would seem incredibly hard for two countries to grow and forgive to be able to come together for a profitable result. Now that China has grown as a power in the global arena it will affect the relationship that it has with Japan even when the Chinese government decides to honor the dead of an attack on its citizens from Japan. This seems to be reestablishing anger toward the attacking country of Japan.

Issues that separate China and Japan

To start the issues start in the past of both China and Japan. The first war that left the two countries to have bad feelings toward each other is the 1894-1895 Sino-Japanese War and then “abusive” actions of the Japanese during the 1931-1945 occupation of China (Bhattacharji & Lionel, 2008). This seems to be an reoccurring trend in the relationship between China and Japan. The governments of both countries seem to want nothing to do with the other and to not have the citizens learn that they can put their differnces aside and help each other profit from a relationship.

Chinese Government facilitates Separation

The Chinese government has influenced its citizens on how they feel about the Japanese and the past. Over time the government would make announcements that happening were caused by the Japanese. They not only make these announcements but have celebrations or remembrances of the lives that were taken when Japan has attacked China over the years (Marquand, 2001). Most often it is China that is upset because the Japanese deny the actions that were taken during war time. The Chinese government exploits the facts that occurred during the wars which causes the youth to have animosity toward having a relationship with the Japanese.
