The two hotels I selected were the popular chain Hilton Hotel & Resorts and the independent Colonel Williams Resort & Suites located in Lake George, New York. As one of the most recognized names in the hotel industry, The Hilton Hotel & Resorts have about 78 properties worldwide with more than 540 hotels and resorts offering a wide range of services that will suit just about every traveler’s needs from family getaways to business retreats. I conducted a search on the Hilton’s website for a week’s stay in New York City and the cheapest rate I found was for $139 per night at the Hampton Inn Secaucus (Meadowlands Area), which is located 4 miles from NYC. I researched further into the Hampton Inn website and found that in every stay they include a free hot breakfast, clean and fresh linens, WIF, and a fitness center. Amenities of the Hampton Inn include a business center complete with phone service, fax, meeting rooms, modem photo copying service, and a printer. They also off cribs and highchairs for families traveling with infants as well as baggage storage, complimentary breakfast area, coin laundry, elevators, laundry/valet service, multilingual staff and a safety deposit box. The Hampton Inn did not offer any spa or golf packages but they do offer sightseeing tours. The most expensive rate within the Hilton chain was $865 per night at The Waldorf Towers, a four diamond rated hotel. The Waldorf Astoria offers luxurious accommodations lavishly decorated and fully equipped with top of the line electronics in the room such as a flat screen television with all the premium channels. Amenities of the Waldorf Towers include a wide range of fine dining restaurants as well as salons and spas that offer personalized facials, men’s treatments, body treatments & massages, and makeup artistry.
