INTRODUCTION

An ERP system may be defined as a packaged business software system that helps companies to manage resources. It makes the companies more effective and efficient by providing an integrated solution for the organization's information processing needs.

ERP system provides firms with 2 main functions: the transaction processing function, which allows the integrated management of data through the entire company, and the workflow management function, which controls all the functions in the company.

ERP is a key business driver nowadays and retailers (like every other industry) are reaping in the benefits of the technology.

Retailers are using ERP systems for different tasks such as: product planning, parts purchasing, maintaining inventories interacting with suppliers, providing costumer services and tracking orders. Also retailers can save money thanks to ERP especially in maintaining inventory, reducing the respondent time to the marketing demand and getting competence.

RECCOMANDATION FOR THE SELECTION OF AN APPROPRIATE ERP SYSTEM

It is clear that for a retailers is crucial to choose the appropriate ERP system, the best fit for their company, and to do so certain considerations has to be kept in mind.

First of all the process of selecting the ERP system has to involve the business on every level. In fact ERP system will impact every aspect of the business so the process of choosing the most appropriate one cannot be delegated to the “computer guy”. This process requires the talent of the top management to make every decisions needed about the features and the level of customization of the software.
