Error Avoidance in CAS

Introduction

“Good management is about getting good people to do great things. Whereas most management is about getting great people to do mediocre things” (Johnson, 2009, pg 70). Mediocre things are not what an organization need in order for the business to be effective and successful. What is needed for the business is that it will be able to implement plans and execute them effectively. Complexity and Postmodern Theory provides leaders a larger variety of being able to adjust to different structures pertaining to the changes in healthcare. When problems arise, managers are always called on to correct the issues so that the organization can continue to move forward. In the healthcare field, the problems today are more multifaceted and call for a better-quality thinking mechanism then just a common solution. One advantage of the joint postmodern/complexity lens is that managers might avoid some errors that would otherwise be pitfalls. From the perspectives outlined in chapter five of the text, I am going to explain why the scenario’s listed below are errors and how these errors can be avoided and corrected.

Scenario #1

Managers fail to account for an employees' ability to learn safe machine operation methods by experimenting on their own with ways to speed up production and thereby reduce the effort they are required to use. This type of failure is an open door to disaster. The key word listed in this error is “experimenting.” No employee should have to learn by experimentation; especially on how to operate machinery. Anything newly introduced to employees should be monitored and failure for this observation to occur can lead to a major catastrophe.
