During the course of any military operation much often depends on key and decisive points that drastically effect further actions thereby ultimately determining success or failure. Entire invasions of continents can be planed, prepared, and executed with detail and precision that is seldom displayed by humanity in other arenas; and yet years of strategic effort and labor can be lost due to the smallest and most unnoticed actions or lack thereof. Events can quickly snowball out of control. Rarely is this better illustrated than the Battle of Pointe Du Hoc.
