Concrete Experience

Team communication skills are critical for ensuring the success of the team effort, whether the team is charged with creating a new product, making a process improvement, or planning the summer picnic. Strong team communication skills can help build relationships, ensure the sharing of new ideas and best practices, and benefit team members through coaching and counseling. We remembered that after the first PAA in the class on October 1, 2013, the instructor gave a discussion for each one of groups about what are the advantages and how you improve your teams according to each groups. One of our group members said that communication is our major advantage and we use Google Drive to share the information and ideas, and also we need to improve the creativity during our group’s meeting or any discussion during the class. Why we think the communication is the main advantage is because Google Drive not only can attach Google Docs to tasks, notes and conversations within teambox, but also it allows our team to easily collaborate and communicate on documents. Unlike the Facebook, Google Drive allows our team to focus only on our own discussion instead of chatting with different people outside the group. As a result, whenever we share the ideas, everything is just related to our tasks, assignments, and projects. This is the effective way to make teams more efficient and productive.

On the other hand, creativity is our team’s weakness, and sometimes may also limit creative thinking. Every one of us may be so focused on working for the overall objective of the team and fitting in to the team concept that we put our own ideas on the back burner. This lack of innovative thinking may keep our team from moving forward, resulting in stagnation.
