|Several factors influenced the rebellion known as the American Revolution. A great many acts |
|were passed in the colonies to control revenue and keep the colonies under control of the British. The |
|Sugar Act, Currency Act, Stamp Act and the Quartering Act were put in effect by the British to |
|increase their revenue to offset the cost of the French Indian War, and also just to keep the colonists |
|from being self sustaining. The British wanted to keep their colonies under strict control. |
|Though political influences existed, the American Revolution was primarily an economic rebellion, |
|because of conflict over taxation and representation in Parliament. The colonists had strong beliefs that |
|English government was unfair and often tyrannical. The conflicts over trade, taxes, and government |
|representation brought about the revolution that began shaping the United States as it is today. The |
|English did not want to share the profits or management of their colonies, and this ultimately was one |
|of the deciding factor in the rebellion. |
