My Leadership Story
My Journey as a Leader!
Starting this semester, I came to understand that leadership is a core value that has to be lived based on the individual values and beliefs. I started this course with abstract knowledge of what leadership is. Moving on I begin to discover other things as the term goes by; first I was able to identify my strengths based on the strengths finder 2.0, and then understanding my core values and clarifying it to get to know the real me. I am happy to tell you today that I now know what I stand for, value and believe in. I found out some interesting facts about being a true leader in week 2 class. One of them was "clarifying your value." it resonated to me because it made me stop and question myself on things I didn’t know about myself. I started to delve into my inner territory and found out who I am, what I stand for and what I believe in.
I believe in servant leadership and it has help me as an individual and as a leader that I am to understand that leadership can be something learnt and if properly developed will ultimately make me a great leader! With that being said, what is servant leadership? According to Greenleaf, “Servant leadership emphasizes other core values that encourage innovation and the development of leaders that must first focus on serving all at all levels within an organization.” However it doesn’t stop there, Greenleaf further explains that to be a servant leader one must enhance and embrace certain characteristics.
