I. Profile

John Martin Miller assumed the post of being the Nestlé Philippines’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on October 1, 2009. He had only been chairman and CEO for 20 months in Nestlé Indochina when he was asked to transfer in the Philippines to head the operations of the company.

On 1895, although Nestlé products were already available in the Philippines, it was not until 1911 when Nestlé and Anglo Swiss Condensed Milk Company was established in the country, with its first sales office at CalleRenta, Binondo. The company was forced to suspend its operation during World War II, but made its come back after Liberation under the new name, Filipro, Inc.

In the early 1950’s, the government imposed import control. This was the time that Filipro Inc. encountered difficulties with their import products. Just to keep their operations going, they were forced to become a distributor of peanut butter, napkins, fruit preserver and fish sauce. In 1960,

Nestle S.A and San Miguel Corporation entered into a partnership resulting in the formation of Nutritional Products, Inc. (NUTRIPRO). Nutripro’s first factory started operation in 1962 at Alabang, Muntinlupa to manufacture NESCAFÉ. Filipro Inc. and Nutripro Inc. merged under the name Filipro Inc in 1977. And in 1986, Filipro Inc was changed to its present name Nestlé Philippines Inc.

Nestlé Philippines’s main office is located at No. 31 Plaza Drive, Rockwell Center Makati City.

Nestlé’s five manufacturing facilities in the country are the following:

* The Cagayan de Oro Factory which manufactures NESCAFÉ and BEAR BRAND;

* The Cabuyao Factory which manufactures NIDO, NESVITA, NAN, NESTOGEN, BEAR BRAND Choco, NESTLÉ All Purpose Cream, Ready-to-Drink MILO, BEAR BRAND Sterilized, and CHUCKIE;

* The Lipa Factory which produces MILO and NESTLÉ Breakfast Cereals; and

* The recently commissioned Pulilan Factory, which manufactures NESTLÉ Ice Cream and Chilled products.
