A firm who decides to embark on projects can improve the manner of how the project is executed to become more efficient. However, the project must be executed to the alignment with the firms financial goals and strategy, if not the firm will not be able to profit from the project (Callahan, Stetz, & Brooks, 2007). To ensure that a project is in alignment to the firm’s financial goals and strategy a project plan must be developed. According to Lewis (2011), if a project manager has no plan, then he or she has no control, because the plan that tells the project manager where he or she is supposed to be. In addition if the project manager does not know where he or she is the project has not control. This is very important for Pontrelli Recycling Inc. to create a project plan to ensure that the project is meeting the financial and strategy of the firm to make a profit, to ensure that there is control, and for the project manager can know where he or she is and where he or she is suppose to be.

Mission

Pontrelli Recycling, Inc. is a recycling company with two different missions (Callahan, Stetz, & Brooks, 2007):

1. Increase the efficiency of recycling usable materials in order to create a better environment.

2. Create value and a fair return on investments for the shareholders.

If market research was conducted on the firm it will show that municipalities and other companies are interested in using recycling services of a company who can provide (Callahan, Stetz, & Brooks, 2007):

1. A reduction in recycling costs

2. Increase the range of recycled materials that could be processed.
