Introduction
Mobile computing has significantly changed to meet the business demands of its users. The way information is accessed and shared has also changed as technology advances. Mobile computing is heavily reliant on secure wireless access. Today, there are many applications available to conduct business transactions and provide services to individuals via the web; also, applications are used for recreation such as social media, internet gaming, music and video downloading, and more. Many mobile applications are available to assist consumers with different business transactions while reducing processing times and providing exceptional customer service. Companies now realize how important it is to make products and services available online inorder to remain competitive amongst their competitions. Consumers enjoy the convience of having applications avialable whereever they are in the world to conduct different transactions and not having to physically go into stores, doctors offices, and more.
This paper will discuss seven points related to mobile computing and social networks and they are listed as follows: the effectiveness and efficiency mobile-based applications provide to capture geolocation data and customer data without having to use a desktop system; secondly, this paper will evaluate benefits realized by consumers because of the ability to gain access to their own data via mobile applications; thirdly, this paper will examine the challenges of developing applications that run on mobile devices because of the small screen size; fourthly, thsi paper will describe the methods that can be used to decide which platform to support, i.e., iPhone, iPad, Windows Phone, or Android; fifthly, this paper will discuss mobile applications requiring high availability because end users need to have continuous access to IT and IS systems; sixthly,...
