1st, 4th 8th, 14th amendment

According to the dictionary, the definition of an amendment is the act of changing for better improvement. Meaning, congress has the right to stretch the laws, so they can always add things. Why are the amendments so important to us? The amendments to the constitution are important because it explains our rights and duties as citizens. It also helps defend and strength, and help people not be controlled by other people. It gives people independence, while also with are ancestors it ended slavery and the differences between men and women.

The first amendment prohibits the making of and law respecting religion, blocking the free exercise of religion, shortening the freedom of speech, overstepping on the freedom of the press, or interfere the peaceably assemble. Basically this bill of right was originally designed to separate between church and state. Speech rights expanded, protecting various forms of political speeches.

The fourth amendment protects the people to be secure in their homes, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures. Only upon probable cause may the place be searched or seized. Unreasonable search and seizure is when a law enforcement officer is whiteout a search warrant and without probable cause seizes evidence it may be introduced in court. The officer violated your 4th amendment.

The eighth amendment protects citizens from excessive bail, cruel and unusual punishment. Cruel and unusual punishment means excessive or unequal to the offense committed. Wouldn’t the death penalty be under this category? Congress has ruled that it is considered a capital punishment. It is not a violation of the eight amendments, but it does shape certain procedures regarding when a jury may use the death penalty and how it can be carried out.
