In an article, published by Tribune Business News and written by Philip D. Brown there was much Information on Rockingham resident Perry Parks. Philip D. Brown was bring up to date on his continuing mission to make medical marijuana legal in North Carolina. Brown discuss Parks continuous fight to legalize medical marijuana and describes his journey as he incorporates the North Carolina Cannabis Patent Network as his support system to help those with medicals issues find a cure in marijuana. ” He said modern proponents of medical marijuana are constantly fighting the antiquated "Reefer Madness" view of marijuana as a dangerous drug, but science has shown it is actually much safer than many substances that are accepted in mainstream culture.”(Brown, 2010).The problem with the article is that the author clearly does not provide his point of view on the topic. If the author did his or her research, then it would become apparent that there are several risk factors when it comes marijuana use, as Parks did not mention in his statements any examples of how marijuana is safer than any other drug. Another problem is marijuana as you have it still is a controlled substance. It is not classified as a prescription medicine in most states. It is an illegal drug. Brown and Parks noticeably avoid stating any negative effects of marijuana usage. They are not credible because the lack of information they provide. Although Brown did not state his viewpoint is identified in the article. The statements Brown list from Parks are not validated with supporting facts and research. Cannabis can be used to treat PTSD, ADD, and Chronic Pain. Brown’s focus was to inform readers that Parks was still fighting for marijuana legalizations in North Carolina.
