My Ideal Computer

As an Information Systems major at KSU and a resident assistant for on-campus housing, I need a computer that is reliable, portable, and has a diverse set of applications. My ideal computer is a fifteen-inch Apple MacBook Pro with Intel quad core 2.3Ghz processors, 16 gigabytes of memory, 512 gigabytes of storage, and running both Windows and Macintosh operating systems. What I like about the MacBook Pro is that it provides users with a high-end computer, with the right balance of power to efficiency ratio. The MacBook Pro gives me enough power to run all of the applications I need for day to day life, while not giving me too much computing power than what I need.

Starting with the operating system, I want my computer to run Microsoft Windows for business applications, and Macintosh for personal uses. With a future in the information technology field, I feel that it is critical to be able to toggle between the two operating systems as I may be required to work on projects on both operating systems at a moments notice. I have found that in most business organizations that I have visited that databases are built off of either Microsoft or custom based systems that require a Microsoft based machine to maintain. By running Windows on my MacBook Pro I could eliminate the need for purchasing two computers to separate my personal preferences from my career requirements. From a personal perspective I prefer the Macintosh operating system because of the ease of use and security benefits that come with having a closed source system. I also appreciate the ease of synchronization between mobile Apple devices and Macintosh computers.

There are five main categories of applications on my dream computer; multimedia, photo editing, app development, desktop publishing, and database management applications. I would use this computer in my free time to stream media such as music, television shows, and movies. In my...
