Ans: In my opinion janet was correct in the comments she made to both groups. She set up an initial kickoff data for the project where she made her view over how she wants to manage the project really clear. She told her team members as well as the plant representatives in the kickoff meeting that her biggest fear about project failure is due to scope creep. Scope creep is basically enhancement to the project scope as the project is being developed. Due to scope create she fears that project duration may increase which will add up to the total cost. This shows that the project is fixed price project. In her view biggest reason for scope creep is the lack of detailed planning. To avoid any misconceptions about the project planning and functioning janet decided to define the role of each person form both the groups. She had already determined the task to be played by each person from both the teams. Also she wanted every team member to understand it very well that she was the final signing authority in the project hence any change has to be made by her concern only. She also made a point that she will not allow any scope changes in the project once the scope is finalized. She wanted each plant representative to derive their scope and hand it over to her. But she also emphasized that they all the plant representatives should have meeting amongst themselves and also with IT staff for guidance and discussion to decide upon their requirements well in advance keeping in mind all the later additions. She made the plant representatives understood that they are responsible for project scope hence they cannot work according to their won wish but had work according to what is planned.
