Reflection
1. How has this project helped you become more aware of the environment and sustainability?
ICC, International Coastal Cleanup, brings people together to find solutions for our water planet. The water conservancy educates and empowers people to defend not only the ocean and its wildlife, but also the millions who earn their living from the ocean. The water is one of the most essential resources in the planet which are related to any global environmental issues such as global warming and climate change. Through the experience of part of the ICC, I hold a belief the only way to conserve or ecosystem and local wildlife is to behave ourselves when making decisions. Also, to some level, we have the ownership to any ecosystem problems that have emerged in our society, our planet. People up to the grass root level should be aware about these issues and their impact on the planet; not only to understand the issues, but efforts are to be put to prevent the same. With increasing demand of power, the resources are getting depleted and we have to go for alternative on solar, wind, water, etc.
2. What did you learn?
Through the experience as a part of ICC, what I learned is that I can prevent pollution in lots of environmentally and economically beneficial ways. Preventing pollution provides cleaner air and water, less waste in landfills, conservation of natural resources, reduced soil erosion, lower electricity and water bills, and increased property values. Extracting and using raw materials creates pollution and uses energy. By changing the way you use products and resources you can prevent pollution and save money. Also, do not let the water run while shaving or brushing teeth while at the same time taking short showers instead of tub baths, drinking water in the refrigerator instead of letting the faucet run until the water is cool, Washing only full loads of laundry or use the appropriate water level or load size...
