Abstract
The federal government gives free funding and aid to those Americans that are unable to work or who are currently out of work. Based upon only a few requirements, American citizens are able to receive this funding to support themselves, their families, and their children with the food and clothing that is needed to sustain their lives. The current legislation does not require candidates to pass a drug screening to collect this free income to support their families and unfortunately many individuals use this income to purchase illegal narcotics and controlled substances to support their own habits of drug abuse. Many states in the U.S. are trying to pass legislation that would require candidates to pass a drug test during the application process to receive federal aid and funding but civil liberty groups like the ACLU are protesting these legal bodies stating that a drug screen goes against the constitution and violates illegal search and seizure rights.
Drug Screenings for Federal Aid
The United States of America is a very giving nation and the government tries to provide its citizens with federal funding when citizens are either out of work, unable to work, or for various other qualifying conditions or situations. The federal welfare system tries to do its best to provide for those citizens that are truly in need and not just those that are trying to abuse the system. By placing mandatory drug screenings into the qualifications for free federal aid, the government can weed out those that are using federal funding to support habits that might not be looked at as being morally and ethically correct.
