In this module the students will learn the skills and knowledge required to manage all aspects of the recruitment selection and induction processes in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
SECTION 2
Develop recruitment, selection and induction policies and procedures
Strategic, operational plans and policies
Strategic plan outlines the mid to long term (3-5 years) business direction that encapsulates vision, mission, goals and strategies. This will become the foundation of the operational plan which is prepared to implement the strategic plan on annual basis. The operational plan consists of goal, strategy and tactics from all business functions that the firm has.
In order to achieve the goals of the operational plan, from human resources perspective, all department heads must formulate the manpower plan as part of resources management. All business plans require resources such as budget, people and time.
Following the manpower plan, depending on the organisation’s policy & procedure, the organisation can now start with the recruitment and selection process. In the recruitment process, the organisation normally starts with the recruitment analysis that involves the following activities:
Organisational analysis
As mentioned above, the recruitment process must be started with analysing the strategic and operational plan. Further, at this stage, we also relate the recruitment with the organisation’s policies such as:
Application processing
Anti-discrimination and equal employment opportunity policy
Privacy and confidentiality policy
Interviewing
Reference check
Use of external agency
OHS policy
Bullying and harassment policy
Reward and compensation policy
Probation policy
Termination policy
Applicant’s consent form policy for police and criminal checks, especially for roles that involve working with children
