Personality Reflective Assignment One Genetics, Evolution and Personality

As much as I’d hate to believe everything that my family claims about my childhood, I know they’re right about my stubborn behavior. They did also say though, that when something was asked sincerely enough, my level of agreeableness was acceptable. I believe my agreeableness has increased – I do tend to be stubborn occasionally, but if there were enough reason to be cooperative then I would definitely do so. This also led to a fair amount of neuroticism according to them. I think, however, this trait has diminished. I’ve inculcated the ability to accept non-ideal situations; this is particularly true at CMU where I’ve had to deal with academic failure after being a valedictorian at high school. Combining this ability with increased agreeableness, I believe I am a far more open person than my parents described me in my childhood. They said I liked to stay within the confines of my regular diet or school days and sometimes even refused to try a new sport. Today I am willing to try any cuisine and climb any mountain and I am very proud of this increased openness. My parents did also claim that I was highly conscientious as a child. There were apparently many situations at home, as my family went through a fair amount of turmoil during my childhood, where my behavior was in accordance of somewhere with a sense of drive and maturity. Even today, I remain a very dedicated person and I will always try and ensure that I give my all at everything I attempt whether it is academic challenges at CMU or at high intensity jobs like my previous internship with a hedge fund. Finally, the most consistent behavior trait is my extraversion. I was always willing to be the kid that performed at family functions and I’m still the student who willingly agrees to be the first speaker at a meeting and always will be.
