FINAL REQUIREMENT for English 211 (F, L, P)

MECHANICS for SUBMISSION:

1. due date is October 8, 2013 (Tuesday) with NO extensions

2. submit via e-mail attachment at marionbguerrero@gmail.com

3. e-mailed work should bear the following:

• subject: ENGL 211 (Section)

• document saved as: SURNAME.doc

FORMAT:

1. font style – Arial; font size – 11

2. letter-size, margins of one inch on all sides, double-spaced with justified orientation

3. place page numbers on the footer at lower right in the same font style and size

4. PLEASE follow the same instructions on writing your identification details (i.e. name, year & section, etc.) as what you previously did for your persuasive speech

5. instead of a title, in the middle (in bold type, upper case) write your speaker role and below that (in bold type, italicized and in sentence case) write the motion

Ex: (Take note of the spacing for the identification details and the “title” and the spacing

between these texts)

GUIDELINES:

1. As you realized by now, you are assigned a specific speaker role with a corresponding motion. Instead of an actual debate, we shall resort to the nearest and most feasible alternate –a debate speech document.

2. Create a persuasive speech based on your speaker role (please see BP Debate Roles Framework among the files uploaded in our Facebook Group Page) and motion.

3. For rebuttals, assume the arguments of your opponent. For extensions, assume the case of your opening half. For issues in the Whip Speech, assume the major questions in the round.

4. No need to elaborate on POI’s.

5. Although you may contact your debate partners (for team split, consistency, etc.), the work will still be graded individually.

6. The number of paragraphs will depend on the number of arguments or issues you may raise (a speech with less than three (3) paragraphs will not be checked). The minimum number of pages...
