Adelphia’s Training Plan for Success

Organizations can be structured in a way that consists of groups and teams to achieve the organization’s objectives. However, the processes in achieving the objectives are not always efficient, giving way to communication, collaboration, and conflict management challenges. Developing a training plan to overcome these challenges will prove beneficial to the group and team’s ability to achieve the organization’s objections effectively. According to Callanan (2004) “The acceleration in the use of team-based structures as a preferred method of organization and decision making reflects the need for timelier processing of information in a world of increased environmental uncertainty.” Groups and teams will function more efficiently when adhering to an effective training plan that focuses on improving communication, collaboration, and conflict management processes. When groups and teams work more efficiently, the organization increases its chances of succeeding.

When creating a plan to improve a group and team’s effectiveness, understanding the challenges and benefits associated with communication, collaboration, and conflict management are important. The challenges of communicating effectively within group and team are conflicting word associations, terminology differences, incomplete information sharing, and communication clamor (Robbins & Judge, 2007). On the other hand, the benefits of effective communication are facilitating motivation, expressing emotion, aligning thoughts, improving team cohesiveness, and minimizing misinformation (Robbins & Judge, 2007). To ensure effective communication within a group and team, a communication process can be followed. The process consists in the following order; sender, message encoding, channel, received message, message decoding, noise, and feedback, see fig. 1.5.
